NHS Business Services Authority
The NHS Business Services Authority is an Arm’s Length Body of the Department of Health and Social Care. Experts in managing healthcare information at scale, we oversee £34 billion of NHS expenditure each year delivering a range of national services. These include processing all prescriptions dispensed in the community in England, making payments to pharmacists and dental practitioners, issuing prescription exemption certificates and administering the NHS Pension Scheme. Recent acquisitions include NHS Jobs and ESR, completing our ‘Hire to Retire’ portfolio, enabling us to support NHS employees all the way through their career pathway.
Our purpose is to be a catalyst for better health. As part of our work, we process billions of rows of dental and prescription data each year and the insight gained from the analysis of these data enables us to support national initiatives that improve patient outcomes and generate savings. We have delivered annual recurring savings of over £750 million for the NHS and we continue to find new opportunities through collaborating with a variety of NHS organisations. The volume of healthcare data we collect, coupled with our analytical skills, uniquely qualifies us to achieve our vision of becoming the delivery partner of choice for the NHS.
